Wedding: Aaron & Lorena

You don’t need another human being to make your life complete, but let’s be honest; Having your wounds kissed by someone who doesn’t see them as disasters In your soul, but cracks to put their love into is the most calming thing In this world.
— Emery Allen

When the church doors opened and Lorena emerged to walk down the aisle the entire congregation around her was singing in unison without being prompted the words to Leonard Cohen's “Hallelujah”
It had been years in the making for Aaron and Lorena to arrive at that moment.
Years of wondering whether or not Lorena’s mom would be able to walk her down the aisle, wondering whether or not they could be understood by each other when outside circumstances would push against their balance as a couple and as a blended family. Years of wondering how it was all going to come together and if they would ever make it there.

Sometimes relationships come easy and sometimes you have to fight for each other.
Aaron and Lorena fought hard for each other.

Just minutes before she walked down the aisle I was the only person who watched these two sneak off to pray together with out seeing each other. Aaron said in his prayer “no day is perfect and we don’t expect perfection God, we just ask for grace.”

Aaron is a hardworking, down-to-earth, family-man and Lorena is a passionate activist, a bleeding heart liberal and a fierce advocate as a social worker. When Lorena is loud about her convictions Aaron quietly soothes her hurts, the ones that have made her stand tall and demand justice for others.
They are both good friends to those around them, both heavily involved in their community, both motivated by the faith they share ( they pray together as a couple every morning).

It was an honor for Jules and I to document their wedding and even more of an honor to call both of these people friends.

Congratulations Aaron & Lorena – on all the fights that brought you closer, all the obstacles you've overcome and all the love that remains after every setback you have stayed to face together and won.
